About Your Surgery

Surgery

Your surgeon will discuss a treatment plan that may include surgical care. The Medical Assistant will select a surgery date with you and forward your information to the Surgery Scheduler. A Surgery Packet will be either mailed or securely emailed to you to confirm the surgery date, procedure, and facility. The Hospital or Surgery Center will also contact you for any information needed.

Due to specific medical conditions, equipment needs, and staffing requirements by the surgery centers and hospital, we are not able to determine surgery time until the business day prior to your surgery date. You may submit a request for a particular time for surgery, and we will make every effort to accommodate your request. The Surgery Scheduler will contact you in the afternoon on the business day prior to your surgery day to provide your surgery time and arrival time.

Medication Stop List

A list will be provided in your Surgery Packet that will be mailed or emailed to you. Please contact our office to discuss any questions that you might have regarding your current medications or any pre-, intra, or post-op instructions.

Surgical PreHab Appointment

In preparation for surgery, you will be scheduled for a PreHab appointment with a Physical Therapist in our office. During this appointment, your therapist will complete an evaluation, dispense Durable Medical Equipment (DME), provide post-operative exercises, review protocols, and provide functional activity training, i.e., dress training, gait training, stair training, transfer training, etc. Please note that you will be responsible for bringing your DME to surgery. Failure to do so might result in duplicate billing and additional patient responsibility.

Surgery Payment

For your convenience, the Surgery Scheduler will contact your insurance company to verify eligibility and benefits for surgery and Durable Medical Equipment (DME). A Surgery Scheduler will also obtain prior authorization for your surgical procedure and/or Durable Medical Equipment as outlined by your insurance company. A Medical Biller will then contact you approximately 3-5 days in advance of either your PreHab appointment (if applicable) or your surgery to discuss your patient responsibility estimate and to collect any outstanding DME, deductible, and coinsurance amounts for surgery during that phone call. Prepayment is required. Although we do everything we can to ensure insurance payment, please remember authorization is not a guarantee of payment and is subject to benefits and medical necessity as deemed by the insurance company.
